Madison Square Garden, New York City – Heavyweight contender Jared “The Real Big Baby” Anderson (13-0, 13 KOs) retained his 100% knockout ratio by scoring a second-round TKO victory over Jerry Forrest (26-6-2, 20 KOs). Anderson captured the WBO International and WBC Silver USNBC titles with tonight’s dominant victory.
Anderson tried to box calmly. However, Forrest, a Southpaw, made some hard left hands and forced Anderson to take up more of the action in the second round. Anderson began to let his hands go full force and nearly stopped Forrest when he had Anderson on the ropes. Anderson landed 54 of the 114 punches within three minutes.
Anderson continued to dominate the fight and landed a hard right-hand that forced the referee at 1:34 in the second round to stop the fight.
Anderson said, “Like my corner said, once I get hit it’s a whole different ballgame. I change everything. My mentality. How I fight. Everything. I try to stay cool and calm. Everyone was expecting him to get up early. I didn’t want that. I did want to get warm. But once he did hit me, as ya’ll see, something flipped, and all I saw was red. We picked it up after he had thrown 114 punches.
“I learned to keep my composure even earlier. It shouldn’t have to take me to get hit for me to be able to do that. Everything turned out to be fine once I learned how to adjust my body and get my feet under me. Although I was a bit off-guard for a second, I think I made it back to normal.
